Multi-Age 6 - 12 years
Learning about Manoomin (Wild Rice)
Our multi-age Thursday Enrichment Class is a perfect compliment to our M - W Grades Class. We take our learning out into the community, guest teachers come to us, or we plan special hands on activities to deepen our learning!
This program is also great as a stand alone class for Home School Students in 1st - 6th grade. We may split into 2 classes of younger students and older students depending on the number enrolled and the topic of the day. We will meet from 9 am - 3 pm. Most of our field trips are walking field trips and will begin and end at Apple Blossom for ease of drop off/pick up.
2 Family Thursdays are offered, one at the end of each session. $10/family to attend and enjoy activities at Apple Blossom. Times may vary.
Families with children enrolled in our M - Th program may attend the 2 Family Thursdays for no cost.

First Thursday Forest Adventure Class held at Lake Bemidji State Park includes hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, mapmaking, and phenology.
Second Thursday Traditions Class will usually be held at the Yurts at Apple Blossom. This Thursday class follows the seasonal cycles of the year with an emphasis on learning about the seasonal activities of Anishinaabe Culture and Indigenous Studies. Anishinaabe and Indigenous Guests will be invited each season to share. Our Apple Blossom Teachers also use resources written by Native authors to teach. Located next to the Indigenous Environmental Garden, we plan to partner for opportunities to learn about seasonal gardening topics and Indigenous cultural perspectives on farming and gardening.
Third Thursday Parks and Rec Partnership Day begin at the Yurts and in most kinds of weather we will walk to the Carnegie Library for a morning program provided by Parks and Rec paired with an afternoon at a nearby park or the Science Center. Programs may include: Scavenger Hunts, Arts and Crafts, Legos, Snow Shoeing, Sledding, Ice Fishing, ice skating, and more.
Fourth Thursday Field Work and Community Connection Days held in various local offsite locations or at the yurts. These are field work days or may be a day spent at the Yurts with a deeper dive into a specialty topic that compliments our curriculum. Field trips to local parks, art galleries, museums, local farms, Harmony Coop, and more. Most Field Trips will be walking field trips and begin and/or end at Apple Blossom for ease of drop off/pick up. We plan to take our learning further away 3 - 4 times over the school year. Parents would need to provide transportation on those days or we can help connect you to others to carpool.
Folk Dancing with Lenore
All Thursday programs include artistic journaling and quiet reflection after lunch and learning social/emotional skills through time for play and exploration. We will combine hands on learning of new skills with recording our learning through discussions and journaling. Pack a small morning snack, a healthy lunch, and a water bottle, and make sure kids are dressed for the weather and ready to get messy!
*Children must be able to be safe with their bodies and words, and be able to follow teacher directions in order to attend.
*Indigenous Scholarship available while funds last
If you plan to enroll in M - Th at Apple Blossom, you do not need to sign up separately for Thursday classes. Go to the Grades Page to begin the enrollment process.
