Join us in the Great Outdoors at Lake Bemidji State Park and at the Yurts at Apple Blossom Village for meaningful nature connection while learning how to create healthy screentime habits for the whole family.
In a non-judgmental and inclusive environment we will use this weekend retreat to explore how to resist the magnetic pull of screens, and instead enliven our family life or homeschool with more hands on learning and deeper relationships with our children. Adults can attend workshops while children ages 4 - 10 years are immersed in play and exploration. Workshops may include topics such as Mindful Parenting, Play is Learning, Why opt-outside?, Importance of Movement, How to Simplify, Gardening and Cooking with kids, Forest School Philosophy, and Homeschooling with a Head, Heart, and Hands approach to learning.
Bring the whole family and enjoy activities for adults and children together during down time and evenings such as nature crafts, string games, yoga, Forest Therapy walks, clapping games, and Forest Play. Enjoy stories and singing around the campfire and Shadow Puppetry in the evening.
Leave the screens behind while you re-connect with yourself and your family in nature. Use this time to reset your intentions for family life and bring back tips and tools to help you slow down and find a healthy daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythm for your family in our fast paced world.
This Retreat is intended for Families with children ages birth to 10 but all are welcome. We will touch on screen use by tweens and teens within our discussions.
